That’s right doggie daycare. If you have to work and you are having problems with your furry friend, you may have to consider the fact that he needs someone to help you take care of him. All dog breeds at times are no different than children. They will act out when they are mad at you or if they are sad or even if they are bored. Sometimes when you leave them alone all day long because you are working they simply may hate it and find no other way to express it than making a big mess for you to clean up when you come home. So, it might be a good idea to put your dog in doggie daycare.
You can start off asking your vet if he can give you any ideas on where you can find your dog a good place to spend the day while you are at work. You can also ask friends and family members if they’ve ever used this kind of service and if so, ask them if they have any recommendations.
Once you have a list of some places to go check out you need to make sure that you have a list of questions you want to ask each place you go to visit. Just like a child, you want to make sure that your sweet dog is going to be well taken care of. You need to know if your dog is going to be allowed to play with other dogs or kept on a leash with a single employee, will they give them medication if your dog has to take medication, find out how they handle emergency situations, are where the dogs are kept heated and cooled, all of these questions and more should be asked of all the different places you go to visit.
You should narrow your list down to just a couple of choices according to how they responded to your questions. Then once you have done that you should go by and pay them a surprise visit and see how differently you are treated from the scheduled visit. This is an easy way to see if the scheduled visit was just a show for your sake and to get your business. If they want to know why you stopped by again just let them know you forgot to ask them a question on your previous visit. (Make sure you have a question ready if they happen to ask you.)
After you have done this, you should have acquired enough information to be able to choose which one you want to enroll your dog in. Before committing to enrollment it is important you know all of the rules the daycare center has and that you understand them all. Make sure that you can bring your dog his own food if he is a picky eater and you also need to be allowed to bring his favorite toy or blanket before you try to bring them and find out they don’t allow it.
It is important that when you take your dog to the doggie daycare that you talk to him the whole trip over so that you assure him that he is still loved. You should continue to do this until your dog gets use to going there every day. He may not be able to understand all of the words you are saying but the way you talk to him and your tone of voice will speak volumes and will go a long way in helping him understand what is going on.
