If you find yourself without a job and have joined the thousands of job seekers all looking for work and have also been denied your unemployment benefits, this can’t be an easy situation that you find yourself in. Although, you are allowed to appeal the Employment Office’s denial of your claim, to write an appeals letter is not an easy thing to do nor is the appeals process going to be easy either. The biggest thing that is going to stand in your way are your emotions so you will need to try and rise above them, breath deep and try to get focused on writing your appeal letter.
Before you start to write your appeal letter you need to make sure that you go through all of the info that your state gave you on how to process your appeal. When you do this you should make a list of everything that you will need for your letter.
Then add to your list a summary of very important details that describe the situation and explain why you think you should not have been denied. You will need to have a list of witnesses as well that can back up any of your statements you might make.
You should start your letter in the basic business style with the date, and the name and address of the person the appeal is going to. Then you will need to include all the information that will identify who you are such as your name, your address, Social Security number and a case number if one has been assigned.
After you have done this you need to start the first paragraph. This first paragraph will need to state the reason why you are writing the letter and any other details that is required by your state. Then once you have done this you can move onto the body of the letter. This will need to include a few things such as the reason why you think you should be able to receive your benefits. You need to concentrate on the reason they denied you and build a good argument against their reasoning.
You should then include a list of witnesses listed in the next paragraph and you will need to include all of their full names and their information where they can be contacted. After you have completed your witness paragraph you will move onto your final paragraph which should simply include all of your personal and contact information.
If there are any other documentation such as actual written statements by others, any copies of letters that might be important to your appeal, make sure you indicate this in the letter. You will do this after you have included your signature. Right under your signature just put the word ATTACHMENTS in caps so that the reader immediately realizes that you have included other important information that needs to be read and included in your appeal.
